Do I need trekking poles for general use?
This shelter is designed to be used with trekking poles, but an 8 oz / 227 g alternate pole set is also available for non-trekking pole users. It is also possible to suspend the structure from trees or other overhead supports.
Can I use this for winter?
The structure will withstand light to moderate snow loading. The optional partial solid interior is recommended for cold winds or blowing snow.
Is this shelter really stuffable?
Yes. There is no hard structure embedded in the fly or interior. If you use our substitute poles, the side poles fold to 16 in / 41 cm and the end poles fold to 13.5 in / 34 cm.
Are there any additional pullout points for extra staking?
The Saddle 2 has attachments for (and ships with) apex guylines to strengthen the ridgeline. It also has hem-edge elastic guy-outs.
Does this Tarptent accommodate tall people (over 6 ft 3 in / 190.5 cm)?
Yes, we recommend the Saddle 2 for taller folks. The design of the shelter makes it impossible to run into end walls and there is ample sit-up room.
