Just received my DW and had a weekend to test it out. I compared quite a few options and finally settled on this. After a decent testing weekend in late October with some extremely dewy mornings, I’m certain I made the right choice. At 6’5″ and planning to have another 6′ person or my 130lb dog along on trips, the usable space for the weight of the tent is great. Really looking forward to next season with this.
Additionally, customer service is, without a doubt, the best I have ever encountered. Sent an email in with my issue and had a response within the hour. The follow-up resolution gave me a shipping notification literally 5 minutes after the initial response.

I think this tent deserves 4.5 stars overall. It is pretty awesome. Is it perfect? No. Is there anything I would change? Maybe. Would I buy it again? Most definitely. This was purchased to be used primarily by my teenagers. They love it and I love it. It has been used on about half a dozen outings in rain, hail and sunny skies.
Pros- lightweight, lots of usable space, easy set up, can leave the fly attached for a wet set up, two doors, two vestibules, keeps one dry in the rain and is well made.
Cons- rainfly can shift a bit if it isn’t attached at the arch sleeve and I would appreciate a couple more inches of width (I have two 25″ wide pads and they very slightly overlap).
In regard to what I might change is the way the rainfly attaches. Overall it goes on and off very easily if it is not attached to the arch sleeve and attaching at the arch sleeve isn’t necessary. But attaching and removing at the arch sleeve can only be done if the pole is not in the sleeve. So once it is set up that doesn’t change unless you drop and remove the main pole. If you look at the photos in the product description there is a picture of how it attaches. I don’t design tents so I don’t know what the compromises would be to use a different system. It still works without securing to the arch sleeve but the fly will shift a bit and not be so well aligned with with the center of the tent. It would be nice to be able to secure/detach it to the arch sleeve a little more easily.
My personal note regarding condensation. This was used alongside a Double Rainbow Li and a Rainbow at a cold rainy camp around 10,000′ near a lake. In the morning all three tents, each with one occupant and fully closed, had a lot condensation inside. The double wall just made it more difficult to come into contact with the condensation. I consider that a win as it is mostly being used by my kids and when there are two people in there it might be more difficult to avoid bumping the side.

Spent a long time looking for a good tent for 1-2 people and had my eyes on the regular Double Rainbow before, but due to where I live a double wall is almost essential. Jumped on board as soon as I saw this model and ordered one despite the steep shipping cost. My main complaint about this tent is I don’t have the time to use it as much as I’d like. Comfortable inside climate, sturdy structure, quick and easy setup along with fantastic weight and pack size really makes this one worth it. Best lightweight tent I’ve ever owned.

I received my double rainbow dw as a grad present. A couple weeks ago i got to use it on a 6 day backpacking trip. It held up amazingly well from 40mph winds and two inches of bb sized hail to briefly accommodating a third person this tent rocks! Getting the set up right takes a few tries but once you get it dialed it’s rock solid. I kinda forgot my footprint, but the floor sustained zero damage camping on rocks and other sketchy things. Thank you tarptent!

I‘m a customer from Germany and had this tent shipped to my location of arrival for my US road trip. Henry answered all my questions very quickly and was a big help finding a suitable shipping address. Thanks for this!
The tent itself was quick and easy to set up. The tent was very reliable all the way between CO, Blue Mesa Reservoir and Yosemite. Night temperatures ranged between 37 and 78 degree Fahrenheit and combined with a good sleeping bag and/or liner, sleeping was very comfortable. I particularly liked the feature of rolling up half of the outer tent during warm nights. Also, extending and raising the apsis using our hiking poles was nice.
We did not experience any rain or strong winds, but the tent seems pretty sturdy. We had the seams sealed by tarptent, which seemed well done but was obviously not tested.
Space in the tent was good – not excessive but not uncomfortable either. The sit up room was very comfortable. However, keep in mind that both my partner and I are not very tall (5’ 4“ and 5’ 10“). When lying down, we had plenty of space lenghtwise. Room in the apsides (without being extended via hiking poles) was good for e.g. hiking boots, but I‘m unsure if its enough for keeping a large rucksack dry during rain. The footprint was rather small, you‘ll find a spot for this tent everywhere. Thus, well balanced in size.
Weight and packed size was unbeatable. I loved doing multi-day hikes with this tent.
On the whole, I‘m really really happy with my purchase.
